Conscious Awareness - What Are Your Intentions?

Conscious Awareness - What Are Your Intentions?
By Cate Ferguson

There has been quite a lot written in recent times about Intentions.

A number of Best Selling Authors have titled their books around the topic. Articles in magazines have covered the power of Intentions in your life and I can remember seeing a short film about that recently.

So, are Intentions some kind of new age fad or is something deeper going on here?

Many years ago I did some study and practice in the old traditions of herbal remedies and met some very interesting women who were practiced in the Wiccan traditions. We used to do meditations and blessings together and I attended some of their Solstice and Equinox celebrations, which were really wonderful. For a while, I considered following that path myself but in the end it wasn't really for me.

Having said that though, there was one very, very powerful part of their process which I have discovered turns up in many forms all over the place and it is the statement that ends something like ... and it harms none ... That is an Intention. That my will be done, that is it already done, that this is now true... so long as it harms none.

I heard a story once about a women who was learning to work with the Law Of Attraction. She would often drive a particular route and discovered a house that she really liked. She had been heard to say many times ...I Want That House!

  • It came to pass that the house came on the market and she bought it.

  • It appeared that the Law Of Attraction had worked in her favour.

  • There was a little spin on the tale though. The previous owners had been living happily in their home for some years, the husband suddenly died and the home had to be sold and this is the reason it came on the market and allowed our, I Want That House, friend to purchase it.

  • I am sure it was not her Intention to have something terrible happen to the inhabitants so that she could "Have" that house. I'm sure that if her Intention had been made Consciously it would have been more like "I Own A House Like That One" or at the very least she would have added her insurance policy statement - if it harms no-one.

What I particularly like about using Intention in your life is that you can add real value to what you are doing, what you are dreaming about and to get really clear on what you want to happen.

When I make an Intention statement I add something to the end of it that conveys my ethics and morality around what I am willing to accept in terms of this becoming my reality.

  • For example I might add something like "This manifests for me now, in perfect harmony for the greatest good of all."

  • This sentence tells the Universal Energy that I am willing to accept my Intention into my life IF it is for the greatest good.

There is another way to use this kind of idea and that is more in relation to who you would like to become or how you would like to behave - rather than what you would like to have. To set an intention for your behaviour or attitude and link that to being for the Highest Good, is also a wonderful thing to do.

  • For example you might decide that you would like to become a more compassionate person or to behave more kindly towards people.

  • You could create a daily Intention for yourself that reminds you of your desire to become more compassionate and kind.

  • These are very much like Affirmations. Intentions Fuel Affirmations and so you may already be familiar with this idea.

To build your Intention into your Affirmation is quite easy.

Your affirmation may have read "I am compassionate and kind to all who cross my path today" which is a lovely idea.

To ensure that your Intention is clearly attached to your Affirmation you might write it like this:

"I Intend that I act with compassion and kindness to all who cross my path today in harmony with the Highest Good of all concerned"

Now you have clearly stated what you Intend. You have Affirmed your Intention and you have shown that you understand that there is a much bigger picture at play than you can see from where you stand. Many people can only see the world from what they think is for their own greatest good. You have now shown that you are a Conscious Being and are prepared to step forward and play the game of life at a much higher level.

Take a look at the Affirmations you may already be working with on a daily basis. See if they really reflect your deepest Intentions for yourself and for others and build in that Intention so that you can create a very clear message to the Universal of who you are, what you Intend and how you are willing to allow it to manifest.

Using Affirmations and Intentions in this way helps you to expand the vision you hold of what is possible in your life and in the world at large. This expands your Awareness of what is possible for you, of what is for the Highest Good and helps you to create a greater vision. This is Conscious Awareness in Action.
