The World Is A Mirror

The World Is A Mirror.

These words make absolutely no sense to some people (myself included the very first time I heard them) but once they have been planted within your mind, slowly they begin to transform you.

What do they mean?

To me, they mean that what I experience as the world around me - outside of me, is a direct reflection of Who I am - within me.

I didn't like to hear that the very first time. It made me angry! I was not at all impressed and didn't believe it to be true. I am so very grateful that now, some years later, I have come to understand, accept and even embrace the concept.

Why was I so angry about the possibility of this concept being true?

The truth is that behind these words lay the reality that I am responsible for my reality. That my experience of the world, my life, comes to me because of who I am - the real me, the insider who watches it all unfold.

As Within, So Without is another simple way of saying much the same thing.

The Law Of Attraction, which has attracted so much attention in the last few years, is telling us exactly the same thing.

You Will Attract Unto Yourself, Exactly That To Which You Give Your Attention.

If you give your attention to the fact that people take advantage of you all the time - that is what you will get. Why? Because that is what you believe about yourself.

  • Deep inside your opinion of you could be that you deserve to be taken advantage of or

  • perhaps it is something more like you believe that in order for people to like you and accept you, you must always say yes to their demands

  • Perhaps it is something from your earlier experiences when you felt unheard and so you just gave up saying what you want and began doing what everyone else wanted.

The beliefs underlying your experience can be many but the result will always mirror them, in this case being taken advantage of.

When I first came across this saying and all that goes with it, I was angry because I wouldn't accept that I could be responsible for what occurs in my life. I wanted someone to blame and I didn't want that person to be me.

Now, I can really embrace this "Life Is A Mirror" suggestion because IF I am responsible, I am also able to change my experiences by discovering who I Really Am.

We all have beliefs tucked away inside us that no longer serve us.

Many of them, never did but we accepted them as our truths of who we are because they came from people who loved us (like our families) and institutions we trusted (like our Churches, schools and governments).

How many of the deepest beliefs about yourself have you exposed to the full light of Love?

  •  How many have you personally chosen to continue to believe?

  • Do they still serve you?

  • Where did they come from?

  • Are they still true for me right now?

These are all good questions to ask of yourself, if you find the events of your life not to your liking.

If the world (your outer reality) is indeed a mirror (of your inner reality), then go to the bother of understanding and accepting responsibility for your inner self, cleaning it and maintaining it and keeping it in such a beautiful condition that it can only reflect exactly that which you absolutely know is perfect for you.
